Father Zygmunt Malacki 1948 - 2010

Father Zygmunt Malacki died on 7 August 2010. He was Parish priest of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Warsaw Żoliborz, where in the 1980s he worked with Father Jerzy Popiełuszko.
Not long before his death, in June 2010 he accompanied the mother of Father Jerzy at Piłsudski Square during the beatification mass of the martyr for the faith and the hero of the Solidarity movement.

He became parish priest in Żoliborz in 1998. Like Father Popiełuszko, with whom he was friends since their studies at the seminary, he celebrated monthly masses for the Homeland. It was his work was to create the museum of Father Jerzy in the parish church.

Over the years he served at the Academic Church of St. Anne and led the Warsaw Academic Pilgrimage. Father Malacki initiated the Way of the Cross through the streets of the Warsaw Old Town on Good Friday.

He loved the Tatra mountains. There, he rested the best. Together with his pupils he set Papal Cross at the Przysłup Miętusi.

He had been seriously ill for several years.

The funeral of Father Zygmunt Malacki was held on Sunday, 15 August 2010.
